Miêu tả
Tóm tắt:"Women Working" is a collection of readings by 15 academics and one attorney, all involved in teaching, re- search, and writing in the areas of economics, women's studies, sociology, and law. The credentials of the contributors indicate a high level of expertise in the study of the condition of women in American society. The book developed out of a common recognition among the editors and authors of a need for a "central reference" to support course work on "sex roles, women in the economy, the sociology of occupations, and industrial sociology" as well as course work in "management and labor, social stratification, marriage and the family, social problems, and social theory." To develop such a resource is a tall order, but the authors have admirably succeeded, concisely addressing the many factors necessary to understand the work women do and why they do it. According to the editors, the purpose of the book is to describe "women's market and non-market activities, their rewards, problems, in addition to original empirical and theoretical analysis of the work roles of women."--Http://www.jstor.org (Sep. 30, 2016).
